Hong Kong content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited's Ani-One YouTube channel began streaming the Future GPX Cyber Formula Zero original video anime (OVA) on Friday.
VAP describes the OVA:
A freak accident during the 12th Cyber Formula World Grand Prix causes Hayato Kazami to miss the rest of the season, and critically injures both his body and his will to continue racing. Hayato's longtime friend, Asuka Sugo, helps nurse him back to health, and in return he proposes to her and promises her that he would never race again. But as time goes on, Hayato begins to doubt whether he really wants to retire, and decides to make a comeback after all. And with the 13th Cyber Formula World Grand Prix now underway, he must struggle to regain his racing form; regain the trust of Asuka, whose promise he broke; and thwart the malicious intents of Henri Clayton. All the while, the reason behind Hayato's accident begins to unveil itself: the "Zero Zone."
Ani-One began streaming the original Future GPX Cyber Formula television anime on September 29 and the Future GPX Cyber Formula 11 original video anime (OVA) on October 8.
Mitsuo Fukuda directed the series and wrote the scripts with Hiroyuki Hoshiyama and Takeshi Ashizawa. Kou Otani composed the music. Hajime Yatate is credited as the original creator. Sunrise and VAP produced the anime.
The original Future GPX Cyber Formula television anime aired in Japan in 1991. The anime was followed by four OVA beginning with Future GPX Cyber Formula 11 released in November 1992. Future GPX Cyber Formula Zero released in 1994, Future GPX Cyber Formula Saga in 1996, and Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin in 1998. A compilation OVA titled Future GPX Cyber Formula: Early Days Renewal debuted in 1996.
