The official Twitter account for the The Devil is a Part-Timer! anime announced that the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival Online 2021 event livestream will reveal news about the anime's second season on December 12 at 8:50 p.m. JST. Voice actors Ryota Ohsaka (Demon King Satan) and Yōko Hikasa (Heroine Emilia) will appear on the livestream.

The main cast is returning for the second season.

Yen Press publishes both the original light novels and Akio Hiiragi's manga adaptation, and it describes the story:

After being soundly thrashed by the hero Emilia, the Devil King and his general beat a hasty retreat to a parallel universe... only to land plop in the middle of bustling, modern-day Tokyo! Lacking the magic necessary to return home, the two are forced to assume human identities and live average human lives until they can find a better solution. And to make ends meet, Satan finds gainful employment at a nearby fast food joint! With his devilish mind set on working his way up the management food chain, what will become of his thirst for conquest?!

The main novel series inspired a television anime adaptation in 2013. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired, and released the anime on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2014.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is a Japanese light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara, with illustrations by Oniku (written as 029). ASCII Media Works has published the series in Japan, while Yen Press has published the series in North America.

The story is about Satan seeking to conquer the world of Ente Isla, but when confronted by the Hero Emilia, he is forced to retreat through a gate that transports him to modern day Tokyo, Japan. To survive and find a way to return to Ente Isla, Satan adopts the name Sadao Maou and gains part-time employment at a fast food restaurant called MgRonald's, a parody of McDonald's. There have been two manga adaptations published by ASCII Media Works in Dengeki Daioh and Dengeki Maoh. A 13-episode anime adaptation produced by White Fox and directed by Naoto Hosoda aired between April and June 2013. A second season has been announced.
